Where it came from
Tribute to the World Tree was released in 2023 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set March of the Machine. The card reflects a pivotal narrative moment in the game's lore, where the multiverse unites to protect the World Tree, Phyrexians having attempted to corrupt the foundation of all planes. Mechanically, the card serves as a powerful utility enchantment that rewards players for deploying creatures, leaning into the growth and revitalization themes central to the green color identity.
The artwork was illustrated by Livia Prima, who utilized a lush, vibrant aesthetic to represent the restoration of the multiverse's vital energy. Her design focuses on the interconnected nature of the tree’s roots and branches, conveying a sense of scale and cosmic significance. Upon release, the card was well-received by players for its efficiency in resource management, quickly becoming a staple in various green-based deck archetypes within the Commander format.
