Where it came from
Seek the Horizon was included in the 2016 Magic: The Gathering product Duel Decks: Nissa vs. Ob Nixilis. This release was part of a popular series designed to provide players with two ready-to-play decks themed around the narrative conflict between the elf planeswalker Nissa Revane and the demon planeswalker Ob Nixilis. The card itself was chosen to support Nissa’s green-aligned playstyle, which focuses on ramp and land-based utility.
The artwork for this specific printing was created by artist Christine Choi. In line with the card's effect, which allows a player to search for three basic lands, the illustration emphasizes the vast, verdant landscapes of the Zendikar plane. It was well received within the context of the deck for its thematic resonance, helping to solidify the identity of the preconstructed set as an immersive storytelling experience for both casual players and collectors.
