The Serra Advocate, originally appearing in the Urza's Saga expansion in 1998, was reimagined for the 2009 Duel Decks: Divine vs. Demonic product. This set was designed as a thematic battle-in-a-box, pitting iconic angelic forces against infernal demonic entities to highlight the narrative duality central to the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. The updated artwork for this version was commissioned from artist Greg Staples.
