Where it came from
Setzer Gabbiani first appeared in the 1994 role-playing game Final Fantasy VI, designed by Tetsuya Nomura. As a renowned gambler and the owner of the airship Blackjack, Setzer was conceived to represent the game's high-stakes aesthetic and themes of chance. His design, characterized by his distinctive white coat and scars, has become an iconic element of the franchise's character roster.
This specific card, number 93 in the Final Fantasy Commander set, translates Setzer’s legacy into a strategic tabletop format. The card features artwork that honors his original sprite design while adapting his signature 'Slot' ability into a mechanic. It is part of a series intended to appeal to longtime fans of the series, focusing on the character's traditional role as a wild card within a tactical environment.
