Where it came from
Shaun, Father of Synths was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Fallout Commander set in 2024. This card represents a pivotal character from the Fallout 4 video game, designed to function as a legendary creature within the game's mechanics. It captures the complex narrative role of Shaun, who serves as the leader of the Institute and the central figure around which the game's morality and discovery revolve.
The card features artwork by the illustrator Volkan Baga, who utilized the game's aesthetic to portray the character amidst the sterile, high-tech environment of the Institute. The design emphasizes his role in synth production, utilizing game mechanics that reflect his synthetic workforce and technological influence. Upon its release, the card was received as a faithful adaptation of the character's nuanced story arc within the broader post-apocalyptic setting of the Fallout universe.
