Where it came from
Shiko, Paragon of the Way was released as part of the Tarkir: Dragonstorm promotional set, a series of cards distributed through specialized events to celebrate the return to the plane of Tarkir in Magic: The Gathering. These cards were designed to highlight the shifting timelines and dual identities characteristic of the set's narrative, where the influence of the elder dragons fundamentally altered the culture and combat style of the five clans.
The art and design for this promotional release focus on the traditional, monastic aesthetic of the Jeskai Way, emphasizing a balance between martial prowess and intellectual discipline. As a promotional iteration, the card features unique foil treatment and expanded border art, a stylistic choice intended to distinguish it from the standard card stock and appeal to players seeking visual variations of mechanically significant cards.
