Where it came from
Shrike Force is a card from the 2024 Magic: The Gathering expansion set titled Bloomburrow. Set within a whimsical, anthropomorphic world where animals take the place of traditional fantasy races, the card reflects the set's focus on small-scale heroes in a vast, perilous wilderness. The illustration captures a shrike equipped with gear, grounding the creature in the set's signature aesthetic of woodland adventure combined with high-fantasy combat.
The design of the card emphasizes themes of agility and quick-strike capabilities, consistent with the predatory nature of the bird species depicted. As part of the Bloomburrow set, it was developed by Wizards of the Coast to support specific tribal archetypes and mechanical synergies intended for both limited and constructed formats. The card was received as a functional, flavor-forward addition that reinforces the set's immersive, storybook-inspired environment.
