Where it came from
Skyhunter Strike Force is a creature card originating from the Phyrexia: All Will Be One Commander set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. This set was designed to complement the main Phyrexia: All Will Be One expansion, focusing on the dark, biomechanical themes of the Phyrexians as they attempted to conquer the multiverse. The card features a member of the Leonin race, reimagined through the lens of Phyrexian corruption, reflecting the set's narrative arc of resistance versus forced assimilation.
The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who utilized a stark, high-contrast aesthetic to highlight the aggressive, militant nature of the creature. Designed as a support piece for aggressive white-aligned decks, the card's mechanics emphasize collaborative combat through its melee ability. Upon release, it was well-received by the Commander community for its utility in combat-focused strategies, serving as a distinct visual and mechanical representation of the Phyrexian-aligned Leonin forces.
