Where it came from
The Skyhunter Strike Force card was released in early 2023 as part of the Phyrexia: All Will Be One Commander set. This expansion was designed to coincide with the main set release, focusing on the resurgence of the Phyrexians, a classic antagonistic faction in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. The card depicts a member of the Leonin race, who are often portrayed as cat-like warriors, now integrated into the Phyrexian collective through the process of compleation.
The design of the card, illustrated by Wisnutansa Adiputra, leans into the aesthetic of white-aligned Phyrexian forces, characterized by porcelain armor and biomechanical integration. The card was received as a functional addition to aggressive decks, utilizing the double strike mechanic to mirror the swift, lethal nature of the strike force it represents. It serves as a narrative piece reflecting the corruption of established planes and the physical transformation of their inhabitants under Phyrexian rule.
