Slippery Karst

Slippery Karst was first introduced in the 1997 Urza's Saga set and later reappeared in the Commander 2013 collection as part of the Nature of the Beast deck. Designed as a utility land, it belongs to a cycle of cards that allow players to pay mana and discard the card to cycle it for a new one, providing flexibility in deck construction. The design intent was to offer players a way to mitigate the risk of drawing unwanted lands in the late stages of a game, a mechanic that has since become a staple of Magic: The Gathering gameplay.

The card features artwork by Christopher Rush, one of the most iconic illustrators from the early years of the game.
