Snakeskin Veil // Snakeskin Veil

Snakeskin Veil was released as part of the Dragonstorm Art Series, a curated collection within the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem designed to showcase the intricate, often atmospheric illustrations that define the game's expansive fantasy world. This specific card represents a visual expansion on the mechanics of the game, focusing on the thematic elements of the Tarkir plane—a world defined by warring clans and the cyclical influence of dragon magic. It was created to provide collectors with a high-fidelity representation of the card's original art, emphasizing the painterly style favored by the art direction team at Wizards of the Coast.

The artwork for this piece was crafted to evoke a sense of mystical protection, leaning into the lush, wild aesthetics associated with the green mana identity in Magic lore. The design process focused on translating the protective magical ward described in the game's rules into a tangible, visceral image of serpentine scales and forest elements. Upon its introduction, the piece was received positively by the collector community for its departure from traditional combat-focused imagery, instead highlighting the narrative depth and aesthetic detail that the Art Series sought to elevate.
