Where it came from
Sneak Attack was originally released in the 1998 Urza's Saga expansion as a powerful enchantment allowing players to put creature cards from their hand onto the battlefield for a single turn at a low mana cost. This mechanic defined the 'Sneak and Show' archetype in competitive Magic: The Gathering, creating a high-risk, high-reward strategy that remains a staple in eternal formats like Legacy and Vintage.
The Enchanting Tales version, numbered 50 in the Wilds of Eldraine set, serves as a special bonus sheet reprint featuring the 'Anime' art style. This particular illustration was created by artist Kousuke Oono, who utilized a bold, expressive aesthetic to revitalize the classic card for modern collectors. Its release was met with widespread appreciation from the community, as the stylized artwork provided a fresh, thematic departure from the traditional fantasy depictions found in the original printings.
