Soratami Cloudskater

Soratami Cloudskater was released in 2004 as part of the Champions of Kamigawa expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set was deeply inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology, marking a significant departure from the European high-fantasy aesthetic that dominated the game during its first decade. The card features the Soratami, a race of moonfolk depicted as highly intelligent and reclusive, dwelling in floating cities above the clouds of the Kamigawa plane.

The card was illustrated by Japanese artist Ittoku, whose ethereal style emphasizes the otherworldly and serene nature of the moonfolk. Design-wise, the Cloudskater was crafted to embody the mechanics of the Kamigawa block, which often rewarded players for returning lands to their hands.
