Soul Feast

Soul Feast was originally released as a black sorcery in the 1997 Weatherlight set, designed to provide players with a straightforward life-drain effect that simultaneously damaged an opponent and bolstered the caster. The card serves as a quintessential example of the 'drain' mechanic in Magic: The Gathering, where resource disadvantage for an opponent is converted directly into player longevity.

This version from Tenth Edition, released in 2007, features artwork by Adam Rex. As a core set, Tenth Edition was curated to bring classic and staple card designs to a new generation of players, with Rex’s illustration providing a darker, more atmospheric interpretation of the spell compared to its original printing. The set is noted for being the first core set to utilize the modern card frame for older, reprinted cards, making this iteration a hallmark of the game's evolving visual identity during that era.
