Soul Manipulation

Soul Manipulation was originally printed as an uncommon card in the 2000 set Invasion, designed as part of the Magic: The Gathering card game. It was conceived during a period when the game focused heavily on multicolor themes and the synergy between different card types, specifically creatures and sorceries. The card's mechanics reflect the game's broader design philosophy of providing players with card advantage by allowing them to retrieve resources from their graveyard, a staple effect in black-aligned strategies.

The inclusion of Soul Manipulation in 'The List'—a rotating collection of cards reprinted in Set Boosters—marks its ongoing presence in the game's modern ecosystem. The illustration, created by artist Adam Rex, characterizes the dark, fantastical aesthetic prevalent in early 2000s Magic art. Over the years, the card has been received as a functional utility piece, appreciated by players for its dual ability to raise a creature from the dead and return a spell to the hand, solidifying its place as a reliable tool in various deck archetypes.
