Soul of Zendikar

Soul of Zendikar was originally released as part of the Magic: The Gathering core set Magic 2015, featuring artwork by Aleksi Briclot. The card was designed as a mythic rare avatar, reflecting the game's focus on the power and elemental connection of the Zendikar plane. The promo version, marked with the Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 stamp, was distributed to players who purchased or played the digital game, serving as a crossover incentive to bridge the physical and digital player bases.

The design of the Soul cycle centered on high-mana creatures with activated abilities that could be used from the graveyard, encouraging strategic interaction with the discard pile. Aleksi Briclot’s illustration captures the shifting, unstable landscapes of the Zendikar setting, emphasizing the ethereal and mountainous nature of the character. The card was well-regarded by players for its utility in green creature-based strategies, though its status as a promo item makes it a distinct aesthetic variant sought primarily by collectors of Magic 2015 supplemental cards.
