Where it came from
The Spectral Bears card was featured in the 1997 World Championship Decks, a product line released by Wizards of the Coast to allow players to replicate the experience of playing with high-level tournament decks. These decks consisted of exact replicas of the 60-card main decks used by the top players at the 1997 Magic: The Gathering World Championship, including special card backs to distinguish them from standard tournament cards.
The design of the card reflects the aesthetic standards of the era, featuring art typical of the late 90s fantasy style. These decks were intended as both a memento of the international competitive circuit and a educational tool for enthusiasts, providing insight into the prevailing deck-building strategies and the 'meta' environment of professional play during that specific year.
