Where it came from
Standard Procedure was released in 2022 as part of Unfinity, the fourth Un-set produced by Wizards of the Coast. Designed for Magic: The Gathering, the set was conceptualized as a space-carnival themed expansion that blended traditional gameplay with the unconventional, humor-focused mechanics unique to the series. The card was specifically designed as a white-aligned common that parodies bureaucratic processes through the game's mechanics.
The card features illustration by artist Livia Prima, who utilized a clean, retro-futuristic aesthetic to capture the satirical tone of the set's setting. As part of a silver-bordered legacy in design, it was intended to provoke interaction between players rather than strictly competitive play. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the Un-series for its thematic commitment to the 'top-down' design philosophy that defined the expansion.
