Provenance

Where it came from

Steal the Show is an instant-speed card featured in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set, Secrets of Strixhaven. This set serves as a standalone expansion themed around an elite magical university, drawing inspiration from high-fantasy academic tropes. The card was designed to capture the flavor of a dramatic, theatrical performance within the game's mechanics, allowing a player to redirect a spell in a way that feels like a choreographed spectacle.

The illustration for the card was created by artist Campbell White. The artwork utilizes a vibrant, painterly style consistent with the visual identity of the Prismari College, the Strixhaven faction associated with creative arts and elemental magic. Upon its release, the card was received as a niche utility tool, appreciated by players for its thematic alignment with the set's focus on expressive, flashy spellcasting.
