Where it came from
Wisdom of Ages was introduced as part of the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for Magic: The Gathering, released in 2021. The set is themed around an elite multiversal university, with the card itself appearing in the Mystical Archive, a specialized subset of iconic instant and sorcery spells from throughout the game's history, reimagined with art styles unique to the Strixhaven setting.
The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, who utilized the set's distinct academic and magical aesthetic to depict the accumulation of knowledge. As a reprint of a card originally appearing in the Urza's Saga set, this version was designed to reflect the scholarly atmosphere of the Prismari and Silverquill colleges, focusing on the visual language of ancient archives and mystical scrolls common to the plane of Strixhaven.
