Stratadon

Stratadon was released in 2001 as part of the Planeshift expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, this set served as the second installment in the Invasion block, which centered on a massive multiversal conflict between the plane of Dominaria and the invading Phyrexian forces. The card was designed to reflect the mechanical theme of the set, specifically the use of domain—a keyword ability that rewarded players for controlling multiple basic land types.

The card was illustrated by artist Donato Giancola, whose work is highly regarded in the fantasy art community for its classical composition and technical precision. In depicting the Stratadon, Giancola created a hulking, mechanical behemoth that embodied the biomechanical aesthetic of the Phyrexian invaders.
