Where it came from
Strength of the Tajuru was released in 2020 as part of the Commander 2020 deck series, specifically appearing in the Arcane Maelstrom deck. This card is a reimagining of a powerful spell from the Zendikar plane, a setting defined by its untamed landscape and adventurous spirit. It serves as a classic green X-spell, designed to bolster a creature's presence on the battlefield by providing both a significant power boost and additional support through +1/+1 counters.
The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Igor Kieryluk, whose work frequently captures the visceral energy of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. His approach for this piece emphasizes the untethered growth and natural intensity of the Tajuru elves of Zendikar. Upon its release, the card was received as a versatile utility piece for commander players, appreciated for its ability to provide flexible scaling in the mid-to-late game as players accumulate more mana.
