Sundown Pass

Sundown Pass is a rare land card introduced in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set Innistrad: Crimson Vow. Designed as part of a cycle of allied-color 'slow lands,' the card is intended to support mana consistency in mid-to-late game stages, entering the battlefield tapped unless the player controls two or more other lands. This mechanic reflects the atmospheric and gothic horror themes of the Innistrad plane, representing the slow, deliberate progression of a journey through the dark, vampire-infested landscape.

The card features illustration by Alayna Danner, whose work is noted for its ethereal, painterly quality. In this piece, Danner utilizes warm, sweeping light to contrast with the typically grim aesthetic of the set, aiming to capture the transition from twilight to darkness. The design was well-received by players for both its functional utility in competitive formats like Standard and Commander, and for the evocative visual storytelling that helps define the identity of the Crimson Vow expansion.
