Sundown Pass

Sundown Pass is a rare land card from the Secrets of Strixhaven promotional series, introduced by Wizards of the Coast for Magic: The Gathering. These cards were distributed as part of a specialized marketing initiative designed to celebrate the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion, offering players unique aesthetic variations of dual lands that tap for two specific colors of mana. The card belongs to a cycle of 'slow lands,' which are mechanically tuned to enter the battlefield tapped unless a player controls two or more other lands, balancing early-game limitations with mid-game reliability.

The visual design for this series leans into the scholarly and mystical atmosphere of the Strixhaven setting, with art direction intended to evoke the storied, magical geography of the Arcavios plane. The illustration captures the serene yet powerful essence of the location, emphasizing the interplay of light and shadow characteristic of the school's aesthetic identity. Upon release, these promotional versions were well-received by collectors and competitive players alike for their distinct, borderless art style, which prioritized an immersive, expansive view of the card’s location compared to the standard set versions.
