Suntail Hawk

Suntail Hawk was originally introduced in the Stronghold expansion set in 1998, designed as a simple, cost-efficient flying creature for White decks. As a staple of the 'weenie' archetype, it was prized for its ability to chip away at an opponent's life total early in a game, reflecting the design philosophy of the era that emphasized aggressive, low-mana creatures to maintain board pressure.

The Ninth Edition printing, released in 2005, marked the transition of the card into the core set environment. Featuring art by Heather Hudson, the illustration maintains the classic avian aesthetic that defined the card's history in the game. Upon its re-release, it was received as a functional reprint that served as a reliable baseline for Limited formats, showcasing how core sets preserved the mechanical identity of Magic: The Gathering throughout its mid-2000s evolution.
