Provenance

Where it came from

Swiftgear Drake was released in 2022 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set The Brothers' War. The set was designed to revisit one of the most pivotal and tragic storylines in the game's long-running lore, specifically the massive industrial conflict between the artificer brothers Urza and Mishra. This card represents the technological marvels produced by the Yotian and Terisiare factions during this era of rapid mechanical advancement.

The card's artwork, illustrated by Wisnu Tan, emphasizes the frantic, high-tech aesthetic of the brothers' war. It depicts a construct designed for aerial scouting and combat, fitting into the set's broader theme of artifact-focused gameplay. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional addition to Limited play formats, where its ability to interact with the graveyard and provide utility reflected the scavenging-and-reconstruction mechanics central to the set's design philosophy.
