Where it came from
Take Flight was released in 2022 as part of The Brothers' War, a Magic: The Gathering expansion centered on the iconic conflict between Urza and Mishra. This set was designed to evoke a nostalgic, retro-futuristic aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the lore established in the game's earliest years while updating mechanics for a modern play environment.
The card illustration was created by artist Livia Prima, who utilized a clean, atmospheric style to capture the card's function of granting flight. The design leans into the set's broader theme of artifact-heavy warfare and mechanical ingenuity, and it was primarily distributed as a common-rarity utility card intended to support the Limited gameplay experience during the set's release cycle.
