Take Vengeance

Take Vengeance was released in July 2018 as part of Core Set 2019 for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Wizards of the Coast designed the core set to serve as an accessible entry point for new players, featuring a blend of reprinted staples and new designs that emphasize straightforward gameplay mechanics. This card functions as a classic white-mana removal spell, providing players with a balanced, cost-effective way to interact with an opponent’s board state during the combat phase.

The card's illustration was created by artist Titus Lunter, who has contributed extensively to the Magic: The Gathering aesthetic. The design captures the essence of white-mana thematic archetypes, which often focus on justice and retribution. By depicting a scene of decisive martial action, the artwork reinforces the spell's mechanical utility as a tool for evening the odds in a tactical skirmish. Upon its release, it was well-received by the community as a solid limited-format inclusion that rewards careful timing and tactical awareness.
