Provenance

Where it came from

The Talisman of Impulse was released as part of the Secret Lair Drop series, a curated initiative by Wizards of the Coast that offers stylized, limited-availability versions of existing Magic: The Gathering cards. This specific card, bearing the collector number 1055, was featured in the 'Secret Lair x Street Fighter' drop, which served to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the legendary Capcom fighting game franchise.

The card features artwork by Karim Whaly, who reimagined the Talisman of Impulse to reflect the aesthetic of the Street Fighter universe. By integrating the mechanics of the iconic game with the functional utility of the Talisman, the design team aimed to bridge the gap between two deeply established fanbases. Upon its release, the drop was noted for its departure from traditional fantasy art, leaning heavily into a vibrant, pixel-art-inspired style that resonated with players interested in cross-media collaborations.
