Terror of the Peaks

Terror of the Peaks was originally introduced in the 2020 Magic: The Gathering set Core Set 2021. The card quickly became a staple in Commander and other formats due to its potent ability to deal damage based on the power of entering creatures. This particular version was released as part of a Secret Lair drop, a series of curated, limited-time printings that feature experimental or high-concept artistic styles intended to distinguish them from standard set releases.

The Secret Lair aesthetic for this specific printing leans into a stylized, often unconventional art direction characteristic of the drop program's efforts to highlight diverse artistic voices. By offering these cards through direct-to-consumer sales, Wizards of the Coast positioned these items as premium collectibles for players who value unique visual representations of classic mechanics. The reception has been largely defined by the card's enduring mechanical utility paired with the collectible appeal of the distinct foil treatment and thematic framing.
