Provenance

Where it came from

Tarfire was originally released in the 2007 Lorwyn expansion for Magic: The Gathering, designed to reflect the folklore-inspired themes of the set. As a tribal instant associated with the Goblin subtype, it was crafted to provide players with a versatile tool that could benefit from synergies within tribal-focused decks, cementing its place as a staple utility card during its time in Standard play.

This specific printing appears in the 2014 Duel Decks Anthology: Elves vs. Goblins, a retrospective product designed to reprint iconic decks from the early years of the Duel Decks series. The art for Tarfire, illustrated by Greg Staples, captures the chaotic, fiery essence of Goblins, and the card's inclusion in this collection allowed players to revisit the classic elemental interplay between the two featured creature types.
