Temple of Mystery

Temple of Mystery was first introduced in the Theros expansion of Magic: The Gathering, released in 2013 as part of a cycle of lands known as the Temples. These cards were designed to provide players with dual-color mana sources that offered a strategic advantage through the Scry mechanic, which allows players to look at and filter the top card of their library. The specific version found in the 2015 Clash Pack features the original illustration by Christine Choi, whose ethereal and lush depiction of a verdant forest sanctuary reflects the Simic color identity of blue and green.

The Clash Pack series was an initiative by Wizards of the Coast aimed at providing new and returning players with semi-competitive, pre-constructed decks that featured notable cards from recent sets. Including the Temple of Mystery in the 2015 iteration served as a functional inclusion, ensuring players had access to necessary land fixing for the green-blue archetype. The card was well-received by the player base for its balance of utility and aesthetic appeal, remaining a staple in various formats during its tenure in the Standard rotation.
