Temple of Mystery

Temple of Mystery was originally introduced as a land card in the Magic: The Gathering Theros block, designed to provide players with a strategic advantage by allowing them to Scry 1 upon entering the battlefield. This specific version, identified by collector number 255s, was released as a foil promo card for the Core Set 2020 cycle. These promos were primarily distributed through local game stores as rewards for participating in various Magic events, serving as a functional and aesthetic bridge between the game's rotating competitive formats and long-term collectibility.

The artwork for this particular printing reflects the high-fantasy aesthetic associated with the game's design team, focusing on the immersive, atmospheric landscapes that define the 'Temple' cycle of lands. Illustrators tasked with these pieces typically aim to evoke a sense of ancient, magical serenity consistent with the lore of the multiverse. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its utility in deck-building, particularly for decks utilizing green and blue mana, and remains a staple item for collectors of serialized or promotional Magic: The Gathering cards.
