Provenance

Where it came from

Terror of the Peaks was introduced as part of the Core Set 2021 for Magic: The Gathering, specifically featured as a showcase card highlighting the set's focus on powerful, iconic dragon creatures. The card was designed to function as a high-impact finisher in red decks, utilizing a triggered ability that rewards players for putting other creatures onto the battlefield, thereby scaling in effectiveness as the game progresses.

The artwork was commissioned from illustrator Lucas Graciano, who utilized a dramatic, sweeping composition to emphasize the dragon's imposing scale and fiery nature. Upon its release, the card received significant attention within the competitive community for its aggressive potential and ability to control the board, quickly becoming a staple in various constructed formats for its combination of evasion and direct damage output.
