What it does
When this creature enters, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is your devotion to blue. Put up to one of them on top of your library and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. If X is greater than or equal to the number of cards in your library, you win the game. (Each blue mana in the mana costs of permanents you control counts toward your devotion to blue.)

Where it came from
Thassa's Oracle was released in early 2020 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set Theros Beyond Death. Designed as a blue creature representing the god of the sea, the card was intended to explore the theme of devotion and library manipulation within the set's Greek mythology-inspired narrative. Its mechanics allow players to look at the top cards of their library and potentially win the game if their deck is sufficiently depleted, a design choice that aimed to reward players for advanced deck-thinning strategies.
The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who rendered the oracle with an ethereal, aquatic aesthetic that aligns with the visual identity of the Theros plane. Upon its debut, the card became a focal point of competitive discussions, quickly gaining notoriety for its role in enabling highly efficient win conditions in multiple constructed formats. Its reception has been characterized by a divide between players who appreciate its unique strategic utility and those who find its impact on game balance to be significant.
