Provenance

Where it came from

The Animus card is a component of the Assassin's Creed set for the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond collaboration, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024. The set was designed to integrate the iconic lore of Ubisoft's video game franchise into the mechanics of the trading card game, representing the machine that allows users to experience the ancestral memories of their forebears.

The card features artwork that captures the distinctive glowing, geometric aesthetic of the in-game device, emphasizing the technological bridge between history and the modern era. As an artifact card within the game, it was designed to mirror the machine's function of enabling players to tap into historical power, a thematic choice that resonated with fans of the franchise as a faithful interpretation of the source material.
