The Mimeoplasm was originally introduced in the 2011 Commander product as the face of the 'Devour for Power' deck. Its concept emerged from the design challenge of creating a Sultai-aligned creature that could physically embody the graveyard-focused themes of the set, leading to the creation of an ooze that copies and consumes fallen combatants. This particular version, released as part of the Commander's Arsenal in 2012, was designed as a premium foil reprint to celebrate the format's surging popularity.
