Thriving Grove

Thriving Grove was released in 2022 as part of the Streets of New Capenna Commander set. This land is part of a cycle of lands introduced to provide mana fixing in limited and casual formats, designed with a mechanic that allows a player to choose a color as the land enters the battlefield, thereby ensuring accessibility for multicolored decks. The design reflects the art deco-inspired, 1920s-noir aesthetic that defines the New Capenna plane, emphasizing the urban sprawl and opulence characteristic of the setting.

The artwork for this particular iteration was created by artist Titus Lunter, who captured the vibrant, overgrown nature of the plane's vertical architecture. The Thriving lands were well-received by the player community upon release, primarily for their utility in budget-conscious Commander builds. They serve as a reliable staple for players looking to balance color stability without the high investment required for rare fetch or shock lands, fitting perfectly into the modular nature of the Commander format.
