Thriving Moor

Thriving Moor was released in 2023 as part of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander set, a collection of supplemental decks designed for the Magic: The Gathering multiplayer format. It belongs to the Thriving land cycle, a group of utility lands originally introduced in the Jumpstart release to provide mana-fixing for multicolor decks. These cards are mechanically defined by their ability to enter the battlefield and allow the player to choose a color, providing both colorless mana and a colored mana of that choice for the remainder of the game.

The art for this specific printing reflects the aesthetic of the Ixalan plane, a setting inspired by Mesoamerican history and colonial-era exploration. The design is intended to assist players in managing the complex mana requirements often found in preconstructed Commander decks, ensuring smoother gameplay. The Thriving cycle is generally regarded by the community as a functional and budget-friendly staple, valued for its utility in casual environments where high-end mana bases are not the primary focus.
