Provenance

Where it came from

Treasure Vault was released in 2021 as part of the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms set, a landmark collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and the Dungeons & Dragons franchise. This specific promotional variant features alternate art in the distinctive style associated with the set's borderless, rulebook-style aesthetic, which was designed to evoke the nostalgic look of original tabletop RPG sourcebooks.

The card was designed to mechanically represent the iconic loot containers found within Dungeons & Dragons adventures, providing players with an artifact that functions as a mana sink for creating Treasure tokens. The artwork, illustrated by Olga Drebas, captures the essence of a mysterious, gold-filled chest, a visual choice intended to resonate deeply with both veteran tabletop players and Magic: The Gathering enthusiasts.
