Provenance

Where it came from

Tree of Redemption was originally introduced in the 2011 set Innistrad, designed to capture the gothic horror atmosphere of a plane plagued by curses and eldritch threats. The card mechanically reflects the flavor of a sentient, suffering tree that absorbs the life force of its summoner, embodying the set's themes of sacrifice and dark transformation.

The Masters 25 version, released in 2018 to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Magic: The Gathering, features the original evocative illustration by artist Slawomir Maniak. While the card is a functional reprint, its inclusion in this retrospective set was intended to highlight memorable designs from the game's history, serving as a reminder of the intricate narrative-driven mechanics that defined the Innistrad block.
