Provenance

Where it came from

Trenchpost was released in 2024 as part of the Modern Horizons 3 Commander set for the Magic: The Gathering card game. As a 'Locus' land card, it was designed to interact with the classic Urza's lands and other cloudpost-style mechanics, serving as a tactical utility piece intended to bolster colorless-themed decks in the Commander format.

The card features artwork by artist Dominik Mayer, who utilized a dark, atmospheric, and highly stylized aesthetic consistent with the grim industrial tone of the set. Upon its release, it was well-received by players seeking to optimize land-based strategies, particularly those interested in exploring the synergy between the Locus subtype and various ramp-focused artifacts.
