Where it came from
Tribute to the World Tree was released in 2023 as part of the promotional set for March of the Machine, the climactic conclusion to a multi-year story arc in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. Designed to represent the symbiotic relationship between the plane of Ravnica and the World Tree, the card reflects the set's thematic focus on the total invasion of the multiverse by the Phyrexians and the desperate, unified stand taken by various planes.
The card features artwork by Wisnu Tan, whose design emphasizes the vibrant, life-giving nature of the tree against the encroaching mechanical darkness of the set's antagonists. As a mechanical powerhouse in the green color identity, it was well-received by players for its ability to generate card advantage and provide significant creature scaling, cementing its status as a staple for deck-builders in both Commander and competitive formats.
