Where it came from
The Tricksters card is part of the Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart set, a collectible card game released in 1996 by Fleer/SkyBox. This set was designed as an entry-level, simplified version of the more complex Marvel OverPower game, aimed at younger players and casual fans who wanted to engage with the Marvel Universe through a accessible tabletop format.
The design of the card reflects the bold, high-contrast aesthetic typical of mid-nineties superhero media, utilizing licensed Marvel illustrations to depict iconic characters known for their mischievous or deceptive qualities. While the game itself did not maintain the longevity of its predecessor, the set remains a notable artifact of the nineties trading card boom, representing a period when comic book publishers were aggressively expanding their intellectual property into the gaming market.
