Where it came from
The Uncanny card is part of the Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart set, released by Fleer/SkyBox in 1995 as an introductory product for the Marvel OverPower collectible card game. Designed to simplify the complex mechanics of the core game, these cards were intended to help new players build decks quickly and understand the basic flow of gameplay during the height of the mid-1990s trading card boom.
The visual design of the set relied heavily on existing comic book artwork sourced from Marvel's extensive archives. The cards were intended to be accessible entry points for younger fans, featuring simplified templates that balanced clear typography with iconic imagery. While they provided a functional foundation for the game, they are now primarily sought after by niche collectors of the OverPower system who value the set for its role in the game’s early expansion and historical context.
