Where it came from
True Believer was introduced to the Magic: The Gathering card game in the Tenth Edition core set, released in 2007. The card functions as a protective enchantment, granting the player shroud, a mechanic that prevents them from being the target of spells or abilities. This design was intended to offer a strategic defense against control-oriented decks that rely on direct interaction with the opponent.
The artwork for this iteration was illustrated by Greg Staples, who rendered the subject with a somber, monastic aesthetic fitting for the game's white mana color identity. While Tenth Edition served as a compilation set featuring cards reprinted from previous expansions, this specific printing is noted for its updated modern border and its inclusion in a set designed to stabilize the game's core environment for newer players.
