Truga Jungle

Truga Jungle was released as part of the Planechase Anthology in 2016, a comprehensive set designed to revive the popular multiplayer format that allows players to traverse between different locations in the multiverse. The card depicts a lush, dense environment that serves as a mechanical plane in the game, influencing the board state for all participants during a match. Its design aims to capture the verdant, chaotic nature of the jungle, providing players with strategic utility that mirrors the unpredictable environment of the setting.

The artwork for this plane was crafted to align with the visual language of the Zendikar and Alara-adjacent settings often explored in the Planechase series. Artists working on the set were tasked with creating an immersive, sprawling landscape that felt both ancient and teeming with life. While individual plane cards are often treated as functional game pieces rather than artistic centerpieces, the community has long appreciated the atmospheric quality of the Planechase illustrations for the way they translate abstract rules into tangible narrative locations.
