Trumpet Blast

Trumpet Blast was released in July 2012 as part of the Magic 2013 core set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Wizards of the Coast designed the card as a common-rarity instant intended for Limited play formats, where it serves as a straightforward red-aligned pump spell that grants creatures a temporary boost in power to punish opponents who declare poor blocks or to finish off a game.

The card’s illustration was commissioned from artist Carl Critchlow, who has contributed art to the franchise for decades. Critchlow’s design focuses on the kinetic energy of a battle charge, depicting a group of warriors mid-advance to visually convey the tactical surge of power that the spell provides.
