Twilight Mire

Twilight Mire was originally introduced in the Shadowmoor expansion for Magic: The Gathering as part of a cycle of 'filter lands' designed to assist players with multicolored mana bases. The card functions by allowing a player to pay one generic mana to generate two mana of two specific colors, a mechanic that became a staple for strategic deck-building. This particular version was reprinted in the Secrets of Strixhaven Commander set in 2021, serving as a functional utility piece for players focusing on the black and green color identity.

The artwork for this printing features the signature moody, atmospheric aesthetic associated with the Golgari-aligned landscapes of the Magic multiverse. While the original Shadowmoor art was created by John Avon, the Strixhaven-era iterations often rely on thematic consistency to reflect the specific environment of the plane. The card was well-received by the commander community upon its release in this supplemental set, as it provided an accessible way to acquire a high-performance land that had previously seen limited availability in reprint cycles.
