Unburial Rites

Unburial Rites first debuted in the 2011 Innistrad set, designed as a graveyard-based recursion spell that captured the gothic horror theme of the plane. The card mechanic utilizes the flashback keyword, allowing players to cast the spell from their graveyard, which reinforces the flavor of necromancy and rising from the dead. It became a staple in various formats for its efficiency in bringing high-value creatures back to the battlefield.

The Double Masters 2022 version, featuring collector number 95, serves as a high-end reprint of the original card. This specific release features updated aesthetics common to the set's premium presentation, intended to appeal to collectors and competitive players looking for distinct versions of utility spells. The illustration maintains the evocative, macabre tone established by the original artists of the Innistrad block, focusing on the dark, ritualistic nature of the spell's effect.
